When singer and multi-instrumentalist Franklin James Fisher preaches his polished lyrics from the pulpit, the booming synthesiser setting the pulse, driven by the rhythm section around Matt Tong and Tyan Mahan, we hear the unmistakable, urgent sound of Algiers. Their futuristic post-punk R&B always remains unpredictable and is an important and loud voice in times of social upheaval. Algiers sets souls on fire and fuels political discourse and the music world needs these agitators today and for all time. In recent months, Algiers released a special 7″ edition of their 2020 album There Is No Year and collaborated with Massive Attack on their audio-visual EP Eutopia, which features, among other things, the address on the global ecological crisis by the author of the UN Paris climate
agreement, Christiana Figueres. Algiers‘ voice has never gone quiet and we look forward to seeing them in the tent in 2022 with their heated soul.
The concert is unseated.
