Kulturzelt is a home game for the internationally successful Kassel jazz pianist Bernhard Schüler. With his band triosence, will present their new album Giulia, which they released in February. The jazz trio evokes the beauty of life in eleven colourful pieces that could hardly be more diverse, optimistic and virtuosic. An inspiring sense of „dolce vita“ pervades the album, which the German-Cuban trio recorded in the picturesque Italian region of Friuli Venezia in June 2021. Giulia combines various jazz styles, tempos and moods. Pieces like „Odd Times“ or „Little Big Steps“ seem nostalgic and dreamy. Others, however, like „Armando ́s Farewell“ or the title track, have something boundlessly optimistic about them, while „Squirrel ́ s Rock“ and „Ambiguity“ seem downright rocky.
Triosence has existed since 1999, has released 9 albums and won numerous awards at home and abroad. In 2022, the band will go on an extensive tour and the concert on 30.6. in Kassel’s Kulturzelt will be one of the absolute highlights of the festival, as the Italian star trumpeter Paolo Fresu, who already enhanced some songs on the new album Giulia, will also be joining them. Bernhard Schüler, who has been living in Kassel again for a few years, says it is „always something special to play in Kassel“ and the musician revealed: „here
I’m usually more excited than usual.“
